Verdant ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Plant data you create: Plant names, species, room assignments, care schedules, journal entries, and notes. This data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
Photos: Photos you take within the app (for plant identification, health diagnosis, journal entries, and recovery checkpoints) are stored locally on your device. Photos are only sent to third-party services when you actively initiate a scan or health check — never in the background.
User preferences: Your name, app settings (dark mode, notification preferences, quiet hours), and onboarding quiz answers are stored locally on your device.
Subscription data: If you subscribe to Verdant Pro, your subscription status is managed by RevenueCat and Apple. We do not store your payment information.
When you initiate a scan or health check, your plant photo is sent to the following services for processing:
We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to any other third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
All plant data, journal entries, care schedules, and photos are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is protected by your device's built-in encryption (iOS Data Protection).
When you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently removed.
Photos are central to how Verdant works. Here is exactly how they're handled:
If you grant notification permission, Verdant sends local notifications for care task reminders and recovery checkpoint due dates. These notifications are generated entirely on your device — no data is sent to any server to trigger them.
Verdant is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Because your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:
For users in the EU/EEA (GDPR) or California (CCPA): since we do not collect, store, or process your personal data on our servers, most data rights requests are fulfilled by the controls within the app itself. If you have additional requests, contact us at the address below.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
